7th September 2005 / Wasteland / Alex Rider / Alan Moore

May you live in interesting times, as they say. The next few months are going to be pretty quiet for me, as apart from #4 of THE HYPOTHETICAL LIZARD, my next new publication won’t be on shelves until January.

This is mainly down to working extremely far ahead on WASTELAND - I’ve already finished writing up to issue #3 (including a double-sized #1) and should have at least another three scripts completed before the book’s solicited. I’m also writing yet another Secret Project for Avatar that I’m not allowed to talk about yet, but it’s a lot of fun, and the reaction to its announcement should be interesting to see…

And finally for the moment, there’s the other thing I’m not allowed to talk about, though at least I can tell you what this one is: I’m writing the graphic novel adaptation of Anthony Horowitz’ STORMBREAKER, the multi-million selling teen espionage novel which is currently being made into a movie (and one of the most expensive British movies ever, by all accounts).

STORMBREAKER is published by Walker Books, who are also producing the graphic novel. It should be released to coincide with the movie next year, and hopefully I can talk more about it at the time, but until then I’m obligated to keep schtum. Suffice to say I’m looking forward to working on it, even if it is going to keep me locked up in the study day and night for the next few months…

29th July 2005 / Alan Moore / On Sale

It would appear that issue #3 of THE HYPOTHETICAL LIZARD also came out this week, but I somehow missed it on the shipping list, mea culpa. This issue is once again filled with the sumptuous artwork of Sebastian Fiumara, and sees Rawra Chin fall further into the abyss that is his abusive relationship with Foral Yatt.

22nd March 2005 / Alan Moore / On Sale

I’ve just learnt that The Hypothetical Lizard #2 is in stores tomorrow (March 23rd). This is the first issue featuring the art of Sebastian Fiumara, who previously drew some of the stories in YUGGOTH CREATURES. He’s a great match for LIZARD, and I hope you’ll agree a worthy replacement for Lorenzo.

2nd February 2005 / Alan Moore / On Sale

I’m told THE HYPOTHETICAL LIZARD #1 is in US stores this week. This first issue is beautifully illustrated by Lorenzo Lorente, as seen in the Preview issue Avatar published last year.

21st October 2004 / Alan Moore / Interviews

“There are no swords in ‘The Hypothetical Lizard,’ by the way, though there are a few knives. And lots of tea, come to think of it. More people should drink tea in fantasy stories.”

An interview with me about THE HYPOTHETICAL LIZARD, in which I somehow manage to sound like I know what I’m talking about, is now live over at Comic Book Resources.

29th September 2004 / Alan Moore / Pre-order

THE HYPOTHETICAL LIZARD, an adaptation of Alan Moore’s award-winning novella of love and betrayal, starts in December. It’s solicited for preorder in this month’s PREVIEWS catalogue on page 241. Give your comic retailer order code OCT042444.

That’s the cover over there on the right, beautifully illustrated by Sebastian Fiumara, whose work you may have already seen in the ‘Through Dreams Of R’lyeh’ story in YUGGOTH CREATURES #1. (The first issue is drawn by Lorenzo Lorente, then Sebastian takes over for #2-#4.) Seba also drew the cover for the Comic-Con preview issue, which you can see in the HYPOTHETICAL LIZARD gallery and is solicited on the same page of PREVIEWS, order code OCT042447.

Finally, the collected edition of YUGGOTH CULTURES is also now available for preorder, featuring an extra fifty pages (!) of bonus material, including an essay from Alan himself, new artwork and interviews with the man. The order code for that is OCT042441, or OCT042442 for the hardcover edition.

You can see all of these products in more detail on Avatar’s December solicitations page.

Meanwhile, I’m finally on the home stretch of that Big Avatar Job I’ve mentioned before, and I hope to have some very interesting/exciting news from the Oni camp very soon. Hang on to your hats.

3rd August 2004 / Alan Moore

There’s a quite complimentary review of YUGGOTH CREATURES #1 over on the Comix-Fan boards, which was actually posted a few days ago. If anyone else out there shares Joel Phillips’ concerns about the degree of connectivity between the stories, I ask them to trust me. All will be revealed…

29th July 2004 / Alan Moore / Nightjar / On Sale

Update: According to the release list, it seems both NIGHTJAR: HOLLOW BONES and YUGGOTH CREATURES #1 should be in stores at this very moment. How’s that for service?

28th June 2004 / Alan Moore / Interviews

Whoops, I missed this one, and the author didn’t notify me when it was posted… but there’s a new interview with me about YUGGOTH CREATURES online at Jazma, in which I name a few influences besides HPL and reveal myself as the ageing hippy I truly am…
