As promised, the recording of the talk/Q&A I did at Travelling Man a couple of weeks ago is now available. Go to Podomatic, where you can listen online in a flash player, or download an MP3 directly (warning: contains occasional mild profanity). I believe Podomatic automatically add their stuff to iTunes, too, but if so it isn’t up there yet. I’ll post a link if/when it gets added there.
I wasn’t miked up—the recorder was simply an iPod on the table in front of me!—and it sounds like I’m talking inside a cardboard box, but it’s perfectly audible, and even picked up the audience questions surprisingly well.
The Thought Bubble guest sessions are picking up and they’re getting some interesting people in, so I hope they continue to record and upload them in the future. Cool stuff.

Last night’s appearance at Travelling Man went well. The appalling weather unfortunately kept a few people away, but everyone that made it had a good time, and there were some great questions asked. Thanks to everyone who made it, and Travelling Man for being wonderful hosts.
The whole thing was recorded, too—they’re going to launch a podcast under the Thought Bubble name, and this will be the first release. When it’s up, I’ll link to it here so those of you who couldn’t make it (which includes everyone not in England, for a start) don’t miss out.
Along the same lines, I’ve also updated the For Writers page, adding a new original script (issue #9 of WASTELAND) and a section about backup and syncing habits. Both issues, especially syncing between multiple work machines, are things that I know many writers struggle with (let’s be honest, we’re often not the most tech-savvy people around). It’s taken me a long time to find a system that’s both simple and robust, so I hope it’s useful to some of you out there.

I’ll be making an appearance at the Leeds branch of Travelling Man on Saturday 23rd June, the weekend after WASTELAND #10 goes on sale, to sign copies and generally make a nuisance of myself. Also appearing is enfant terrible Frazer Irving, who’ll be signing his new series GUTSVILLE.
It kicks off at 12 noon, and is expected to go on for about an hour and a half… before we both get whisked off to Travelling Man York for another signing, probably starting around 3pm.
In addition to signing copies of anything that gets thrust in front of us, we may also have some goodies to give away… So if you’re in either area, pop in, say hi and feel the love. Missus.

As mentioned on Monday, WASTELAND #8 is now on sale. But it’s not just a fine piece of comic literature worth your hard-earned pennies, oh no!
It also heralds the beginning of a new WASTELAND-related project; the original soundtrack. Which is basically a fancy way of saying that there’s now another WASTELAND song available for you to download (for free, natch) from the website, entitled Walking The Dust - along with new, cleaner mixes of the Theme From Wasteland and Reprise.
From now on, new songs will be made available at the start of each major story arc in the series. Eventually we’ll have enough to make a full, original soundtrack album for the book. Cool or what?

Double whammy today: first, TEXAS STRANGERS issue #1 goes on sale.
If you haven’t been following the updates on the official blog (shame on you), here are some of the advance reviews the book’s had so far:
“A colorful, entertaining and intriguing story for all-ages that makes the most out of two genres”
- Don MacPherson (Eye on Comics)
“Sucks you in and makes you want to see and learn more. It’s an accessible book to kids of all ages, from 8 to 80 who like their cowboys, orcs, and magic spells.”
- Augie de Blieck (Comic Book Resources)
“Mr. Johnston & Mr. Evans’ story is a rip-snortin’ good time, and Mr. Boon & Miss Traci’s pictures shore are purty!”
- John Norris (Comics in the Classroom)
“A strong, solid debut… The plot and story move at a steady pace, and I enjoyed the characters”
- Marc Mason (Comics Waiting Room)
And if that’s not enough to persuade you, you can read the first 11 pages for free over at ComicSpace.
Second, WASTELAND BOOK 01: CITIES IN DUST, the first trade paperback collection, is also on sale.
(EDIT: …for some people. Apparently only those parts of the US that are serviced by Diamond’s Memphis warehouse will receive their copies this week. Which parts those are, I’m sorry to say I have absolutely no idea. But it means the majority of people, including all non-US stores, will get their copies next week instead. I was afraid this might happen, owing to a printer SNAFU a few weeks ago, but hope springs eternal… Or did until I got this news an hour ago, anyway.)
This handsome volume collects the first six issues of WASTELAND, including the double-length premiere issue. That’s 160 pages, all printed on the same high quality paper as the monthly issues, for less than twelve dollars. You really can’t say fairer than that.
Issue #7 of WASTELAND is still available, by the way, and issue #8 will be on sale in two weeks’ time. If you missed out on the book’s launch and haven’t been able to track down the early issues, now’s the perfect time to jump on board.
And finally, there’s a new interview with me at Scryptic Studios, the resource site for would-be comic writers. Pretty in-depth, with some good questions. Check it out.

WASTELAND #3 goes on sale today at good comic stores across North America. This is part one of “Descend The Shades Of Night”, the first true multi-part story arc of the series.
If you’re still on the fence about WASTELAND, well, soothe your backside and fence-sit no more. We’re making issue #1 available to download for free as of today. You may already have seen the 21-page preview - this is the full 44-page issue. Free. Gratis. Have at you.
We’ve also started a Fan Page at thebigwet.com, which we’re going to use to showcase fan art and songs sent to us. (Yes, someone really wrote a song after reading issue #1.) So if you feel inspired by WASTELAND, get scribbling - or composing - and you could see yourself up on the official website!

The new Diamond PREVIEWS catalogue goes on sale today, featuring the solicitation for WASTELAND #1, my new ongoing post-apocalyptic sci-fi series with Christopher Mitten (and covers by Ben Templesmith). The series debuts on July 12th with a double-length issue (for the same $2.99 as a regular issue) and is available for pre-order immediately. The order code to give your retailer is MAY063335.
To launch the series we’ve created an official website about the book, featuring previews, desktops, character biographies, behind the scenes features, ordering information and more… including a theme tune! The site already has loads of content, and it’ll be updated when each new issue hits the shelves. Go visit thebigwet.com to see for yourself, or subscribe to the RSS feed.
We’ve also made a 21-PAGE PREVIEW of issue #1 available, in a variety of formats. You can read it as JPEGs in your browser, download a PDF or CBR directly from the official website, or even download the CBR via BitTorrent. It’s up to you: just click here and choose your preferred format.
Finally, there’s a huge article about the book on Comic Book Resources, where WASTELAND is currently the “spotlight feature”, featuring an in-depth interview with me and the JPEG version of the issue #1 preview.
The journey begins here.

I’m just finishing the book design for the new edition of ROSEMARY’S BACKPACK, the cover of which is over there on the right. As you can see, Drew’s done some brand new cover art for this edition. In fact, the entire book has been redesigned from scratch. Scott Brown’s even relettering it.
The new Speakeasy edition will be solicited soon - 144 pages for $12.99, the same price as the original Cyberosia edition - and I’ve created a batch of wallpapers with the new cover art to replace the old versions. Like all the wallpapers I’m making now, a 1440×900 version is also available for those of you with widescreen monitors. You can find them, along with all my other wallpapers, at the downloads page.
