WASTELAND #31 goes on sale today (at last!). This is the final issue of the Enemy Within arc, in which all the different perspectives come together, and Golden Voice’s rebellion falters. Also, we finally learn what happened between him and Michael outside Providence. For reals! Here’s the solicit:

The explosive conclusion of the “Enemy Within” story arc! Golden Voice is captured, and bound to be executed for leading the Sunner rebellion. But who betrayed them? How did they find him? And can Skot and the others save the Singer from certain death… or are there more important truths to be told?

Schedule-wise, this is the last issue affected by the horrible delays we’ve been suffering; issue #32, an interlude issue with art from Brett Weldele, is already drawn and will be out in November. And next month we’ll make an announcement revealing our plans and schedule for 2012 and beyond (spoiler: it’s very good news).

The order code for this issue is JUL111192, and you can read a 5-page preview of the book at Comic Book Resources.

While you’re at the store, why not pick up SPIDER-ISLAND: THE DEADLY HANDS OF KUNG FU #2, which is also out today?

DEADLY HANDS #1 received an incredible response, and overwhelmingly good reviews, even from people who aren’t reading the rest of the Spider-Island event. As a big martial arts fan myself, it’s great to see so many others out there eager to get their hands on an all-action kung fu book. My thanks to everyone who bought and/or wrote about the first issue. So here’s the solicit for #2:

Harrowing horror and kung-fu kicking! Guest-starring Iron Fist, the Immortal Weapons, and more! The spider-powered infestation of Manhattan is in full disgusting swing… and in the midst of the outbreak, Shang-Chi discovers that even if we all survive Spider-Island, humanity itself faces the doomsday threat of an abominable monster!

The order code for this one is JUL110626, and once again you can read a preview at CBR.

The first issue of SPIDER-ISLAND: THE DEADLY HANDS OF KUNG FU goes on sale today.

As outlined in this interview at Comic Book Resources, DEADLY HANDS is a gothic horror martial arts action-fest, that can be read entirely separate to the main Spider-Island event if you so wish. It also features some of Sebastián Fiumara’s best ever artwork, simply gorgeous stuff.

Here’s the issue solicit:

Beware the deadly hands of Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu! Spider-Man and every hero in New York City fights to save Manhattan from a mysterious infestation… and in the middle of the chaos, Shang-Chi uncovers a deadly mystery surrounding Immortal Iron Fist and the Bride of Nine Spiders! Who’s behind this will shock you… and heroes’ lives hang in the balance as Shang-Chi faces this monstrous villain!

The order code is JUN110627, and you can read a preview of the issue, also at CBR.

At last! I’ve been pushing for this for literally years, so I’m very happy to finally announce that WASTELAND is now available digitally through Comixology. That means you can read it in your web browser, in the Comixology app for iOS, and even on Android devices.

Currently, the first two issues are available — the double-length #1 is free, #2 (and subsequent issues, natch) is just $1.99.

And the backmatter is included, by the way; so you’re getting everything the regular issue readers get, but for almost half the price. Bargain. I don’t know the exact schedule for issue releases, but I do know it’s going to be regular, at least monthly. [ADDENDUM: Two weeks after launch we're already up to #4. At that rate the entire series so far will be up before the end of 2011.]

I’m very excited about this — like I said, it’s something I’ve advocated for years — and the Comixology guys have done a good job putting everything together with Oni. Nice.

And speaking of WASTELAND… yes, issue #31 is still horrendously late. But it’s being finished, and will be out soon, promise. After that comes an interlude issue with art by Brett Weldele, which is already drawn.

And after that, starting with issue #33, comes a new arc (‘Under the God’) drawn by Justin Greenwood, with covers by Chris Mitten. Justin is drawing issue #35 right now, so we’re already well ahead of ourselves. And, starting with that arc, we’re going to arrange the schedule to make sure we never ever face delays like this again.

I, and Oni, will have more to say about all that soon, before the next arc starts. For now, keep the faith.

…And on a slightly happier note, Marvel’s September solicitations are up; check out that cover for THE DEADLY HANDS OF KUNG FU #2. Seba’s on fire.

The hardcover collection of SHADOWLAND: BLOOD ON THE STREETS goes on sale this week.

This is another “premiere hardcover”, like the DAREDEVIL: SHADOWLAND edition (I’ve now seen a copy of that book, and it’s a lovely package) and comes to around 100pp, collecting the entire miniseries.

As far as I know, none of the issues are available digitally as yet, but if you didn’t see the series when it first came out, you can read an advance feature about it here, and a preview of the first issue here, both at CBR.

So apparently, the DAREDEVIL: SHADOWLAND collection went on sale this week. I haven’t seen a copy yet myself, but I’m assured it’s out there.

It’s a 140pp “premier hardcover”, whatever that means, and it collects DAREDEVIL #508-512, plus the epilogue SHADOWLAND: AFTER THE FALL. In other words, it contains everything you need to read alongside the main Shadowland event itself, right up to the end of the ongoing DD title.

If you’re wondering about a collection of BLOOD ON THE STREETS, that’s due at some point next month. Perhaps this time I might even remember to mention it before it hits the shelves…

Issue #30 of WASTELAND goes on sale this week. This is where the tale of Golden Voice’s true role in the Newbegin rebellion is told, and unlike the other issues in this arc, it’s a two-part story, ending in #31. Here’s the solicit text:

The “Enemy Within” story arc continues! Our focus turns at last to Golden Voice — renowned Sun-Singer and holy man, turned violent revolutionary! Marcus’ decision to conscript Sunners into the city Watch forces Golden Voice’s hand, and even his own people aren’t sure about his new tactics. Can he bring them to freedom? Or is the rebellion doomed?

…Which says it all, really. You can’t miss this one.

The order code is SEP101093, and it’s on sale from good comic stores everywhere. There’s a 5-page preview here.

In other news, Christine from the excellent DAREDEVIL fan site The Other Murdock Papers recently interviewed me about DD, fandom, and working for Marvel. The first part is now live, and you can read it here.

Not content to bundle it with DEAD SPACE 2, I’m informed that EA has now also made the PS3 version of DEAD SPACE: EXTRACTION available as a standalone download, from the PlayStation Network. It definitely seems to be getting a better reception this time around, which is nice.

Meanwhile, on the App Store, over 90% of all ratings for DEAD SPACE (iOS) are a full five stars. Also nice!

I’m off to the US for a week (up at 5am for a 12-hour flight! Joy!), so updates here — and the usual messages and replies on email, Twitter, Facebook, etc. — will be slow at best until I return.

DEAD SPACE for iOS is now on sale from the App Store (iPhone & iPod Touch / iPad).

This is another prequel to the main game of DEAD SPACE 2; you take on the role of a mysterious Sprawl engineer known only as ‘Vandal’, who’s on a mission to… well, I don’t want to spoil it for you. Suffice to say, this is DEAD SPACE and things don’t go well.

The iOS edition has been garnering rave reviews all over the place for its graphics and gameplay, which is truly as close as you can get to the original on a touch device. It’s a pretty astounding technical feat, and hey, the story’s not bad either.

Speaking of the main game, DEAD SPACE 2 itself is also on sale today, and if you cough up for the PS3 Collector’s Edition, you get a new HD version of DEAD SPACE: EXTRACTION thrown in. The PS3 version, as you might expect, is compatible with the Move controller (though you don’t need a Move to play it).

ADDENDUM: I’ve just been informed that Visceral devs say EXTRACTION is in fact included with all PS3 versions of DS2, not just the Collector’s Edition. Hurrah!

EXTRACTION was a bit of a lost gem in the DEAD SPACE series. It won awards, got some fantastic reviews praising its story, acting, atmosphere and pacing, from people who actually played it… but frankly, not enough people actually played it. So here’s hoping the game gets a new audience, and a new appreciation, on the PS3.

DEAD SPACE: SALVAGE goes on sale today… again! The good folks at IDW have released a digital version for the iPad.

So now if you want some scares on the move, or if the thought of holding up a heavy graphic novel simply strikes you as far too much effort, your prayers have been answered.

*Insert joke emoticon here*

SHADOWLAND: AFTER THE FALL goes on sale this week, a final epilogue to the Shadowland event, and a coda to last week’s DAREDEVIL #512.

It’s illustrated by Roberto de la Torre and Marco Chechetto, with each artist taking on a separate strand of the story. Lovely stuff.

Here’s the solicit…

Shadowland Ends — but who is the victor? After the senses-shattering conclusion of Shadowland, can the people of Hell’s Kitchen rebuild without a champion to guide them? The future of Marvel’s street heroes begins here!

…Which doesn’t tell you much at all, so listen: AFTER THE FALL is a story about Ben Urich and Detective Kurtz, and the effect of Daredevil’s fall from grace on the city. Both men want to locate Matt Murdock; and both want to know what happened inside Shadowland, though for very different reasons. But the answers they get may not be what they want to hear.

The issue code is OCT100585, and you can read a five-page preview at Comic Book Resources.
