DAREDEVIL #511 goes on sale today. Owing to vacation time and other deadlines, technically speaking I didn’t co-write this issue, so you won’t see my name on the cover. But of course it’s still part of the overall arc which Andy and I plotted together, and we did a joint dialogue pass before the issue went to press, so I doubt most people will notice.

This is the penultimate issue of ‘In The Shadows’, and of course the penultimate issue of DAREDEVIL itself, before everything changes at the start of next year. I’ll be back with Andy for the final issue, #512 — and then I’m writing an epilogue, SHADOWLAND: AFTER THE FALL (which is still under wraps, so no details to announce yet).

Back to this week’s issue, here’s the solicit text:

Hell’s Kitchen has exploded into rioting, looting, and all-out chaos, and Daredevil is responsible for it all. As the leader of the Hand and controller of Hell’s Kitchen, Matt Murdock knows that conquest of New York is within his grasp. But one of his oldest friends goes to Shadowland, to make one last attempt to save the Man Without Fear from walking the path from which there is no turning back.

The order code is AUG100584, and you can read a five-page preview at Comic Book Resources.

The third issue of SHADOWLAND: BLOOD ON THE STREETS goes on sale today. As you can see from the cover, Misty Knight and Silver Sable feature quite a bit in this one, but never fear — both Paladin and The Shroud get plenty of page-time, too. It’s all thundering to a conclusion…

As Shadowland continues to spread across New York City, the strange bedfellows finally come together — each struggling to solve the mystery of the Hand murders! The killing spree shows no sign of stopping, but the ninja’s latest victim is an unusual choice, and casts doubt among our heroes! Will their differences and mistrust keep them apart? Or can they work together to cut through the mystery before it’s too late… and before one of them becomes the next target?

The order code is AUG100591, and you can read a five-page preview of the issue at Comic Book Resources.

DEAD SPACE IGNITION, the “prequel / prologue / sidequel / whatever you can want to call it” to DEAD SPACE 2, is available today to download on Xbox Live. I’m pretty sure it’s out on PSN today, too, but I don’t have confirmation of that. From the official release when it was announced:

IGNITION will show fans what happens in the hours leading up to the beginning of DEAD SPACE 2 with gameplay that is fast-paced and accessible.

[It] combines an interactive comic-style story with three unique hacking games; Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override. Each game offers a fun arcade experience that will challenge players with puzzles and twitch gameplay.

IGNITION features a unique ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ type narrative, allowing players to survive the initial Necromorph outbreak on the Sprawl in multiple ways, with four different endings.

And for the gotta-have-that-edge hardcore players among you, each different ending also rewards the player with an unlockable for use in DEAD SPACE 2. Probably a spare pair of underpants, or something.

DEAD SPACE IGNITION costs 400 points on XBLA, $5 on PSN — or if you’re a smart cookie and pre-ordered DS2 in the US, you should receive a free download token to get it.

Technically the second WASTELAND hardback went on sale last week, but only a limited number of stores received copies, so this week marks the general release.

It’s another monster, clocking in at 360pp, more than 50 of which are full colour thanks to the inclusion of issue #25, and another gallery of Ben Templesmith’s gorgeous covers. Oh, and we also have an introduction from Warren Ellis, plus brand-new artwork from Declan Shalvey, Leigh Gallagher, Justin Greenwood, Matt Southworth, and series artist Christopher Mitten, to accompany the Walking the Dust text pieces.

If you missed it at your store, the order code is JUN101079, or ISBN 978-1934964231.

We’ll also have copies on sale from the Oni Press booth at New York Comic-Con next week (which I’ll be attending — details of signing times coming soon) and we’ll even have some ultra-rare black cloth editions, like we did for Volume 1. Groovy.

A day late owing to labor day in the US, and as predicted last week, two of my books are now on sale.

First is DAREDEVIL #510, by Andy Diggle and myself:

As New York City crumbles under the weight of Matt Murdock’s new order, his former friends and allies struggle just to hold their lives and world together. But as the pressure builds, Foggy Nelson will make an alliance no one saw coming — while Black Tarantula takes a stand against Daredevil… and learns the consequences of crossing the Man without Fear.

Order code is JUL100568. You can read a preview here.

And next is the second issue of SHADOWLAND: BLOOD ON THE STREETS, the critically-acclaimed tie-in series.

Silver Sable… Paladin… Misty Knight… The Shroud! Four very different heroes, all ensnared in a mystery spinning out of Shadowland! Is Daredevil using The Hand to kill mobsters untouchable by the law? Or is something even more sinister spreading throughout the city? Each hero approaches the puzzle from a different angle, and now they must race to discover the truth… but The Hand has other ideas, and time is running out! Can this quartet of strange bedfellows put their differences aside and come together before death strikes again?

Order code is JUL100572. You can read a preview here.

And don’t forget that if you missed BOTS #1 (because it sold out), there’s a second printing on its way next week, order code JUL108023.

No kidding. Today (tomorrow in Europe) sees the release of not one, not two, but three DAREDEVIL and SHADOWLAND-related books.

First up is DAREDEVIL #509, by Andy Diggle and myself:

As Daredevil’s Shadowland stronghold in Hell’s Kitchen grows, more heroes step forward to try to bring The Man Without Fear back to his senses. But any foe of Daredevil knows he is not a man easily stopped. The battle for New York continues!

Order code is JUN100577.

Next is the premiere issue of SHADOWLAND: BLOOD ON THE STREETS, a noir street-level miniseries by me:

Striking from the pages of Shadowland, four cult-favorite heroes rise into the spotlight: Silver Sable… Paladin… Misty Knight… The Shroud! Is a rogue faction of Daredevil’s ninjas secretly targeting the mafia? With DD’s dark castle looming over the city, has The Man Without Fear finally lost his mind? This twisted murder mystery ensnares a quartet of vastly different operatives–but will it unite them, or place them in each other’s crosshairs? Can this controversial crew put aside their differences before a war between The Hand and the mob sets New York ablaze?

Order code is JUN100581.

And finally, we have the latest DAREDEVIL paperback collection, THE DEVIL’S HAND, which contains issues #501-#507 (so all of Diggle’s run thus far, including the ‘Left Hand Path’ arc which I co-wrote) and the DARK REIGN: THE LIST one-shot. Essentially, everything you need to catch up on current Daredevil events, and Shadowland itself.

Order code is JUN100683, or ISBN 978-0785141136.

The second issue of DAREDEVIL event SHADOWLAND, by Andy Diggle, went on sale this week. Now previews for two related books, both on sale next week, are available:

DAREDEVIL #509, in which Izo and Elektra get an inkling of just how bad things are;

SHADOWLAND: BLOOD ON THE STREETS #1, kicking off my solo-written noir story, about which you can read more here.

Enjoy.

As mentioned at the weekend, this week sees the release of DAREDEVIL #508 — today, in fact, if you live in North America.

This is the first part of In The Shadows, the arc which will show readers the ‘other side’ of the SHADOWLAND event, with more emphasis on Matt Murdock, his friends, and the trouble they all find themselves in as DD spirals out of control. Here’s the solicit:

Matt Murdock has long played judge and jury to criminals as Daredevil, but has he now become executioner as well?! SHADOWLAND takes over Daredevil and his friends aren’t about to stand by and lose him on the path he seems destined for. A major player joins the battle as Hell’s Kitchen is about to live up to its name once more!

The order code is MAY100590, it’s on sale in all the usual places, and you can read a preview at CBR.

Typical. I go on vacation for a week, and it all kicks off. While I was away…

WASTELAND

WASTELAND #29 went on sale. This is the fourth part of the “Enemy Within” story arc, and is a big issue for several reasons. First, here’s the solicit:

The ENEMY WITHIN story arc continues, and this issue Watchman Dexus is in the spotlight! Recent times have been tough for Dexus, as his attempts to control the Newbegin council have apparently come to nought. Now things are about to get even trickier… but the Watchman is nothing if not devious, and the Sunner rebellion might be just the help he needs.

The order code is MAR101107.

Second, this issue marks the departure of regular artist Christopher Mitten, who’s moving on to creative pastures new. Filling his inestimable boots is Remington Veteto, a fresh-faced graduate of SCAD.

Finally, we’ve revamped the official website, thebigwet.com — with a funky new look, cleaner layout, and better organization.

DEAD SPACE

Next up is the news that, yes, I’m working in the DEAD SPACE universe once again. DEAD SPACE IGNITION is an interactive fiction/motion comic/game/experiment that lays the groundwork for next year’s DEAD SPACE 2 with a brand new story, characters, locations and events.

IGNITION will be released this fall, for download on XBLA and PSN. More information on that as and when it’s available.

DAREDEVIL

In DAREDEVIL news, SHADOWLAND #1 went on sale this week, written by Andy Diggle and kicking off this summer’s DD-centric event. You can read a preview of it here

…And you can also read a preview of DAREDEVIL #508, by Andy and myself. #508 is the first issue of the “In The Shadows” story arc that runs alongside SHADOWLAND itself, and goes on sale next week.

And that’s all she wrote. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a couple of hundred unread emails to plough through…

So, um, DAREDEVIL #507 went on sale this week, and I completely forgot to mention it here. Whoops. Things are a little hectic right now, which may not be much of an excuse but is certainly one hell of an understatement.

(More on that as and when I’m able — bloody NDAs, sorry — but suffice to say, it’s been pretty much non-stop since about December last year…)

So: This is the final part of the Left Hand Path story arc, and lays the foundations for In The Shadows, which takes place during this summer’s event, SHADOWLAND. Plenty of action, a few answers, and a few new questions. Here’s the solicit:

LEFT HAND PATH concludes as the enemy faced by Daredevil in Japan is revealed as a precursor to the much larger threat awaiting him back in New York. Shadowland is coming…And it will change Matt Murdock forever!

And, because this update is so tardy, I can tell you with confidence that it’s been very well received so far…!

The order code is APR100572, and it’s (still!) on sale in all the usual places.
