A quick reminder that CLOSER is now available for pre-order, and will be on shelves in May – give your comics retailer order code MAR042734, or point them to page 314 of the March Diamond PREVIEWS catalogue.

Randy Lander has some very nice things to say about CLOSER in this month’s DOWN THE LINE feature at The Fourth Rail. Cheers, Randy.

I have two books avilable for pre-order in this month’s catalogue, both from Avatar Press:

In NIGHTJAR #2 (order code FEB042136), Mirrigan tries to have a normal Halloween celebration on Pendle Hill with an old friend, before setting off on her quest for revenge. But one of Blason’s agents is already on Mirri’s tail, and when the fanatical Reverend Brown hears there’s a Demdike on the hill things go from bad to worse…

Also solicited is a preview book for THE HYPOTHETICAL LIZARD (order code FEB042134), another adaptation of an Alan Moore novella. Contrasting the reality of human love and emotion with the fantasy world of Liavek, LIZARD is one of Moore’s best-loved prose works and was nominated for a World Fantasy Award in 1998.

I have two books in the new PREVIEWS catalogue for pre-order, both for publication in March (and both featured on the Diamond Previews website, which is nice)…

JULIUS is on page 312 of the catalogue, listed under Oni Press. It’s a 160pp digest-sized book costing $14.95 (i.e. the same format as SPOOKED), and the order code for comic shops is JAN042612.

NIGHTJAR #1 (of 4), meanwhile, is on page 217, listed under Avatar Press. It’s a regular-sized, 32-page comic costing $3.50, and the order code for comic shops is JAN042157.

SPOOKED is solicited in the new PREVIEWS catalogue, for release in February. It’s on p316, and while I haven’t seen it myself yet I’m told it’s a ‘Spotlight’ book, and therefore quite prominent.

SPOOKED, for those of you new to the site, is a 168-page original graphic novel, illustrated by Ross Campbell and published by Oni Press, about a girl who has a ghost living in her head. It’ll cost $14.95 of your American dollars (which normally translates to around a tenner in the UK). You can pre-order a copy right now from your comics retailer by giving them the Diamond order code DEC032598.

…Actually, probably best to wait till Thanksgiving is over if you’re in the US. I doubt they’d take kindly to having their family turkey interrupted by a zealous shopper…

Avatar have posted their solicitations for December online, and the two COURTYARD books are both featured.

For those who didn’t get the newsletter about this… Avatar are releasing a collection of THE COURTYARD which reprints the two-issue comic story, with a new introduction from Garth Ennis; and also THE COURTYARD COMPANION, which features the full adaptation script I wrote, Alan’s original short story, exhaustive annotations by a Lovecraft scholar, new pinups from Jacen and a new essay by me about Lovecraft, Moore and working on the book. I’m fairly certain this book will also feature the ‘original ending’ of the comic version, which was changed (for the better) in the final book, but I don’t see it in the solicitation so don’t quote me on that.

There’ll also be a limited edition deluxe hardcover slipcase of both books with new covers, new artwork on the slipcase, and an art print – all by Jacen – included. One for the collectors.

The picture to the right is a thumbnail of the COMPANION cover, by the way. Lovely stuff.
